🏎️ Jack Brabham
Jack Brabham won his first Australian Grand Prix at Port Wakefield in October 1955, driving a Cooper-Bristol. The result gives the town a direct place in Australian motor-racing history, years before Brabham’s name became synonymous with world championship success. The circuit hosted a national event on a modest stretch of South Australian ground, and a later plaque marked the fiftieth anniversary of the victory.
